We will miss Dr. Marian Schwab, as she is moving to Ohio.

At the Assembly, she was presented with a plaque, honoring her 26 years of service to the Ecumenical movement through her work with the Louisiana Interchurch Conference.

Fr. LeCompte was recently appointed by Bishop Sam Jacobs to serve as the Designate to the L.I.C. for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux.

Other Annual Assembly Business Session Highlights:

A new type of Board Membership titled "Observer Status", was approved to be added to the L.I.C. Constitution.  Under this membership a Judicatory could be involved and serve (have voice, but without vote) for up to 2 years on a trial basis.

A Hortatory Resolution was passed for endorsement of public policy measures against smoking in an effort to prevent and reduce smoking and other tobacco use in Louisiana, particularly among children and pregnant women.

A Resolution passed in 1997 by the L.I.C., regarding the Principles of Economic Life, was introduced for re-confirmation by the Assembly.  It was referred to the Fall Board Meeting to allow more time for review.

Louisiana Interchurch Conference 40th Annual Assembly

 

A few pictures from the evening Worship Service at First Presbyterian Church of Monroe.  The service also included Installation of the Officers

Newly Elected Officers:

The Rt. Rev. Thomas L. Brown, Sr., Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church - 4th Episcopal District, was officially installed as President for the 2010-2011 election year.

The Most Rev. Michael G. Duca, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Shreveport was confirmed as President-Elect for the 2011-2012 election year.

The Rev. Joe Hill, General Presbyter of the Presbytery of the Pines, will serve as Regional Coordinator for Region 2 (Northeast Louisiana/Monroe and surrounding area).

Mrs. Catherine Townsend, of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lake Charles, will serve as Regional Coordinator for Region 4 (Southwest Louisiana /Lake Charles and surrounding area).

Mr. Rob Gorman, of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, will serve as Regional Coordinator for Region 8 (Southern Parishes of Louisiana around the Houma area).
